Reblog: 3 Tricky Makeup Moves to Master

Since Blogger doesn't have a reblog button, I'm posting this to link you guys to this how-to article from one of my favorite websites, Refinery29.

It's a very useful and easy to understand guide for some of the trickier stuff when doing make up: contouring and applying falsies!

Makeup for Lazy or Busy Girls

When I started taking makeup classes, some of my colleagues asked me why I was taking it - since I rarely wear makeup in the office, they never thought that I'd be the type of girl who actually loves it! Most of the time, I just do a fully made up face when I go to parties and events, or when people will be taking lots of pictures. Other than that, I'm pretty much bare-faced 4-6 days a week.

But when I do feel like looking slightly more "polished" than my usual bare face but with minimal makeup, this is what I usually do:

Before & After
Products used: Liquid Eyeliner, Eyebrow Pencil, Highlighter, Translucent Powder, Lip stain

Anyway, for the sake of blogging, I decided to list a few tips on putting makeup for lazy or busy girls. Click "Read more" to read on!

Deal Grocer MUFE Haul

Group buying sites aren't just for food, lifestyle, or travel offers - they sell make up too! I LOVE that Make up Forever Philippines has given in to the group buying hype, since it means big discounts for us! :)

It was morning and I was sleepy-eyed and still in bed checking my emails when I found out about the promo from Deal Grocer. The subject of the email notification was this - 40% OFF MAKE UP FOR EVER: The World's Leader in High Performance Make Up. So that definitely woke me up! I rushed to buy the stuff that I wanted of course, and in my haste, I didn't notice the fine print: the products couldn't be claimed until after two weeks from the end of the offer.

On Hair Products: Kerastase Reflection

I got this Kerastase Reflection set at a salon after getting my hair colored darker a few weeks ago. It comes with a shampoo, a leave-on conditioner, a hair masque, and a black bag to put everything in.

I was out of shampoo, so I originally wanted to get my favorite Pureology Shampoo and Conditioner which was fantastic at keeping my hair color from fading while also keeping it really soft, relatively healthy, and completely split-end free. Pretty amazing considering the fact that it was already color treated a few times, and I haven't had a haircut (to remove any split ends) for more than a year. The only problem with it is that it doesn't make my hair shine at all. So every other month, when my hair is already looking really blah, I get the Kerastase Chroma Reflect treatments at either Bench fix or Azta salons for shinier hair. I can't remember how much it costs though, but I think one treatment ranges from Php 1,600 - 1,800++ in either salon.

Since the Chroma Reflect treatment in salons is a bit pricey, I decided that it was time to buy the jar since it costs even less than the price of 2 treatments. Unfortunately, due to a really pushy stylist, I got persuaded and ended up buying the set because it was discounted if I got the 3 together. It would come out as if I got the shampoo and bag for free.

Behind the Scenes: "BeMUSE"

Remember this post? Sadly, due to some scheduling issues with the model, we weren't able to do a look using the feathers. Good thing we were still able to do some other looks:

Quick post: OCC Lip Tar in Anime

So I was finally able to get OCC Lip Tars!! I ordered 5 shades from Hoops and Loops on facebook, they offer pretty good terms if you ask me - no down payment! You only pay when your item is already on hand. :)

Out of the five I ordered, only Anime was on hand.  Since I was really excited to try it out, I had it shipped ahead because the other colors won't arrive until after 2-3 weeks.

Urban Decay Naked Palette

I don't really feel like making a full review on this palette since SO MUCH has been said about how amazing it is. I'm pretty sure this palette wouldn't have had an "abnormally high demand" - in the words of Sephora regarding its availability a few months ago, if it wasn't a great product.

Of course, the palette could use more matte shades to truly qualify as "naked" eyeshadows, but I don't really mind. I've read a few complaints on the shadows being too shimmery for daytime use, but I honestly think that this is just a personal preference influenced by how conservative a person is with makeup, and not a fault of the product.

My only (tiny) complaint about this palette is that some of the shades don't apply as well as the others - namely sidecar, creep, and gunmetal. It wouldn't really be an issue though since the problem stemmed from my method of eyeshadow application on my swatching arm - I applied it in long, horizontal strokes. I used an eyeshadow brush to test the shadows on my arm and ended up with uneven application from the 3 eyeshadows mentioned. But the reason I said that this was just a tiny complaint is because people wouldn't really use big, horizontal strokes when applying eyeshadow -- you'd use patting motions, or at least small strokes over the eyelid area, right? When used on the eyes, I didn't have any trouble with the application, and I highly doubt that there would be a normal person with eyes as wide as my arm, thus rendering the uneven application issue irrelevant ;)

So anyway, I'm posting this mainly for the photos I took! Some people might actually be interested in seeing how the eyeshadows look like on someone with medium toned, asian-yellow skin.

Quick post: DIY Feathered Lashes

I'll be having another shoot in a few hours, just wanted to show you guys a preview of what I'll be using later:

The lashes are home made since I didn't have time to buy ready-made feathered ones. If you use falsies on yourself, you might have noticed that it's common for us Asian-eyed girls to cut off a portion at the end since false eyelashes are too long for our small eyes. It helps to save those portions that were cut off since you'd never know, you just might need them in the future! The ones I used here are cutoff from a long strip of white falsies.

Glambox Airbrush Workshop

Back in June, I joined a contest I found on Facebook for Glambox Airbrush Cosmetics.

I've gone to make up school for conventional makeup lessons, and although I've heard of airbrush before, it was only in school where I learned that airbrush makeup was already getting big in the country.

The trend now for brides-to-be is to get airbrush makeup for their weddings -- who wouldn't want photoshop-smooth yet very natural-looking skin in an instant (and not just in photos), right? And since airbrush makeup is long lasting and waterproof, it's all the more fitting that brides use it for their wedding with all the crying and besos that are bound to happen.

So right after seeing that ad from Glambox, I immediately sent an entry, and a few weeks later, I found out that I got selected to participate! :)

My name is there somewhere. Photo credit here
